ABSTRACT
The paper presents the possibility of application of numerical simulations to design of water leisure and sport objects. People in waterparks, sportsmen and fans expect exceptional experience in the water objects together with guarantee of safety. It strongly depends on water flow hydrodynamics. In order to properly fit geometric and hydraulic parameters of objects as wild river slides and white water courses for canoeing, there is a need to analyses the structure of water flow. The forecasting of hydraulic local effects, as well as precise estimation of water depth and flow velocity are necessary for proper design of configuration of any water course. The numerical simulation was proposed in the paper to achieve the goal. As the mathematical model of the free surface flow, the shallow water equations were assumed. In order to solve the equations the numerical scheme based on finite volume method was applied. As the example applications, the numerical analysis of the water flow along “wild river” water slide in waterpark in Sopot and whitewater course in Drzewica were presented. The results of flow simulation seem reliable, what makes possible to recommend this type of approach to designers of water attractions, which is the main conclusion resulting from this work.
