ABSTRACT
The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of vegetation on the development of the soundscape of two selected urban parks in the city of Krakow (Park Krakowski and Błonia). The study involved determining the noise level (dB A) and the inventory of the typical sounds that can be heard in the study area - in two seasons. One was characterized by a period in which trees and shrubs are devoid of leaves (spring), and the second time a full growing season (early autumn). Both the one and the other measurements were performed 3 times a day (the day – 6.00 to 18.00, evening – 18.00 to 22.00 and 22.00 to 6.00 overnight). Investigated parks show a great diversity both in extent and structure of the plant has a huge impact on both the noise and the frequency and type of recorded noise events.
