ABSTRACT
Aim of the study:
The article presents a simplified calculation algorithm used to estimate the distribution of flow in a network of channels under steady flow conditions.

Material and methods:
The presented algorithm is based on the continuity equation and a simplified energy equation. As the relationship between the depth of water and the flow rate, the Manning equation was assumed in the main channel, while the other two channels used appropriate equations describing the flow over a weir and through the culverts. The inclusion of this type of relation in the continuity equation leads to a non-linear equation with respect to the depth (or head on weir), which can be solved using one of the methods for solving non-linear algebraic equations. Calculation example using the proposed algorithm were carried out for the hydraulic system located on the Strzyża stream in Gdańsk.

Results and conclusions:
The proposed algorithm of flow distribution can be an alternative to the analytical-graphic method or a method based on the solution of the boundary problem for the system of ordinary differential equations describing the gradually varied flow in the channel network.
