ABSTRACT
The paper presents historical and contemporary methods of sediments removal from medium and large reservoirs on rivers. Desilting of reservoirs is still a problem, because every year in the global scale as a result of silting every year is lost 0.5–1% storage capacity of water reservoirs. Types of sediments deposited in reservoirs and a brief description of methods of sediment removal as well as a comparison of these methods according to the criteria of technical, economic, social and environmental were discussed on the basis of the literature.
