ABSTRACT
The paper presents results of investigation of a fish pass situated within a check dam on Wierchomla Stream in the Polish Carpathians. Distribution of water velocities, shear stresses and stream power at the bottom of fish pass pools were found. Also the paths of fish travel within the fish pass pools and places of fish rest were established. Wierchomla Stream fish pass is given as an example of the optimally designed fish pass pool. It is recommended to build such constructions built parallel to hydraulic structures.
