ABSTRACT
Revitalization of water reservoirs with a significant degree of degradation requires the use of additional methods supporting the treatment process. The solution may be the use of bioreactor technology or biofilters with a biological bed. Few types of biological beds used in wastewater treatment processes can be adapted to the conditions of open reservoirs. In the article, the authors reviewed selected types of biological beds along with the technology that allows them to be used for work in ponds and small and large water reservoirs. These technologies cannot complement the purification process carried out by the main biological methods, i.e. the application of microbiological biopreparations or other chemical and mechanical methods.
