ABSTRACT
The rain-free days’ sequence was analysed based on the daily values of precipitations from 12 measuring stations located in the Small Vistula river basin. The evaluation of the monthly precipitation deficits was also done using the relative precipitation index (RPI) and the standardized precipitation index (SPI). The considered daily precipitation data from the years 1984–2013 originate from IMGW-PIB. It was shown that the average number of rain-free days in a year in the studied area was from 157 in Wisła Malinka up to 195 days in Warszowice, and in the growing season from 85 days in Wisła Malinka, 89 days in Istebna-Stecówka and Wisła Głębce up to 99 days in Tychy and 102 days in Warszowice. During the researched 30-year period, the highest number of droughts occured in the years: 1992, 1994, 1999, 2005. In case of total number of months with the rainfall below the multiannual average value – the lowest number of such months were in Górki Wielkie and in Warszowice – 59, and the highest number – 71 in Ustroń Równica. However, the number of months with the precipitation deficit with different intensity determined based on SPI values varies from 48 in Warszowice and Wisła Głębce up to 55 in Mazańcowice. The most severe meteorological drought of the growing season occurred in the whole area in April 2009.
