ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper was to determine compression parameters – settlement, primary and secondary compression moduli – of coal mine waste and its mixtures with 10, 20 and 30% addition of fly ash from Kraków Combined Heat and Power Plant. Tests were carried out in a consolidometer, the height and diameter of the cylinder was 374 mm. Samples were formed at the optimal moisture content and compaction index Is = 0.95. Based on the obtained results it was stated that the mixtures with 20 and 30% addition of ash were the least compressible. Higher compressibility was noticed in case of the mixture with 10% addition of ash, whereas compressibility of the coal mine waste was intermediate. Geotechnical parameters of both coal mine waste and its mixtures with fly ash were generally beneficial and they can be used in earthworks.
